Established in 1999, the Pastel Painters of Maine (PPOM) promotes public awareness of pastels and creates a network for local and regional pastel artists. Monthly activities, held in both Northern and Southern locations around the state, include meetings, programs, paint-outs, paint-ins, workshops and exhibitions. We publish a newsletter several times a year and have a well-stocked lending library available to all PPOM members. PPOM has grown to more than 160 members throughout Maine as well as many other U.S. states and Canada. Our International Juried Exhibition "For Pastels Only," an annual event since 2000, includes a workshop conducted by a nationally-known pastel artist who also judges the show.
